Book Review: The MoneySaving Mom's Budget

I have read (and reviewed) a lot of financial books but this has to be one of my favorites. While some books about frugal living may offer "off the wall" tips (like slicing up a toothpaste tube to get the last drop of toothpaste out), Crystal offers more practical, down to earth tips.

I really enjoyed the information on how clutter can result in lost money. I have experienced this myself. I lost a few high value coupons a few weeks ago and couldn't find them anywhere. By the time I found them, they were expired! Her tips and advice on cleaning up the clutter really rang true for me. I have since been working on decluttering the kitchen and pantry.

Another part of the book I found really valuable were the tips on going cash-only. This has been a struggle for me. I love using my debit card and I hardly ever carry cash. But I know when I do carry cash, I tend to spend less. I am going to challenge myself to go on a cash-budget, especially with holiday shopping. It is so easy to put one more thing in my cart and go over budget.

This is just a small sampling of what is in the book...she also includes goal sheets and budget worksheets. I highly recommend this book for everyone who is trying to live a more frugal lifestyle. It would also make a great gift!

The book is only $11 and on sale at Amazon. She is generously giving 100% of the profits from The Money Saving Mom’s Budget to Compassion International.
