Happy Earth Day!

As it's Earth Day, I've been trying to think of ways to be more Earth friendly. I do recycle as much as I can, reuse items and give away items to charity, instead of throwing them out. But there are areas I can improve in. Such as:

- Plastic bags at the grocery store. I never remember to bring my tote bag for groceries. I do reuse the grocery bags at home. And many grocery stores have bins that you can recycle your plastic bags.

- Growing my own food. I really want to grow some vegetables this year but I don't really like dirt and bugs. Growing up, I spent a lot of time at my grandparents, working in their garden, but when it comes to worms and beetles, I don't like it. So, something I have to work on. And I know my son would like watching the vegetables grow too.

- Bottles of water. One of my weaknesses. I love bottled water. I know I should be filling up a reusable bottle every day, but I don't.

- Individual packages of food. Sometimes for convenience sake (and portion control), I buy those individual packs of food. I know the extra packaging is more trash. Have to work on that!

- Cooking from scratch and using leftovers. Another way to save money and help the environment. Working on the cooking (I'm much more of a baker, than a cook). And leftovers, trying to throw out less.

- We also have an SUV, but it does have 100,000 miles on it and we plan to pay it off. I know SUV's aren't eco-friendly but it has come in handy so many times for hauling things, helping people move, traveling with several people, etc.

Those are my Earth Day confessions! I have stuff to work on, but every little bit helps.
