Extreme Couponing- My One Complaint

100 boxes of cereal. 80 bottles of mustard. 50 bottles of barbecue sauce. I was overwhelmed at the number of products, while watching the "Extreme Couponing" show on TLC. While I admire their desire to help their families, I have one complaint- What about helping food pantries?
I didn't see one person on that show giving back to the community and that really bothered me. With food pantries needing the help more than ever, these folks should take their talent at couponing and give back.
I, myself, have a small stockpile but I always try and give back. For example, our church is collecting health and beauty products for City Mission and I'll be donating a bunch of freebies and products I've received.
So, Extreme Couponers, I suggest you find your local food pantry and start giving back. Unless you have a family of 50 in your home, you don't need THAT much food and household supplies.
I'd love to hear your thoughts, please post a comment!

Just because it wasn't on tv doesn't mean it isn't going to happen. Its for tv and they want the shock factor. Of course they aren't going to film this part. I am an extreme couponer that will be on the show and most of us on that show do give back. Check out our youtube channels to see that we do give back!
I don't care for the show....makes us all look like horders. I buy to help my family and my mom who has a limited income. She resently had my 14yr. Old niece move in with her so the need is double now. I hate when I go shopping on the first sale day and everything is gone cause one person bought 85 purex softners....REALLY, do you need thay many??
I totally agree with Laurie. The stuff will go bad before you get to use it all and than what. Throw it away?
I too feel you should do more research before you assume that many of us do not donate our stockpile. I see many many couponers (myself included) donating things that we either pay out of pocket for or do not.
Yeah I can't believe it they had so much stuff and didn't even give the church or families in need. I did see the guy that he donated all those Total cereal he did good for his church. but he was the only one who did.
there was a guy that got almost 100 boxes of cereal and he gave them to his church
My comments were based on the shows last night. I did see the first show a few months ago and remember the one guy donated cereal. I just hope in the future TLC shows couponers donating and helping others in the future.

I agree 100% with Diane, the show makes me sick. I give thousands of dollars worth of food, heath and beauty products and clothing that I get for pennies on a dollar with coupons on a regular basis to three local charities. No one can use that much food without it going bad. If you were going to do a good deed and give it to a local charity I am certaini that the producers of the show would not have a problem with you saying so because there was one man who said he gave most to his church. I don't like the light it portraits us couponers in at all.
