Freebie: Be one of the first 100 customers at your local A.C. Moore and score a free $5 gift card. You can save yourself a little extra dough just by showing up before the sun rises, as doors open at 5 a.m. on Nov. 23.

 

Bealls

Status: Confirmed.
Freebie: Shoppers who arrive when doors open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday will receive a free Bealls Christmas 2012 tree ornament. And for those who really want to be early -- in other words, be in front of the store come midnight -- the first 100 customers in line will also walk home with either a "16GB Wi-Fi tablet," a $100 gift card or $5 Bealls Bucks via a Bealls scratch-off card.

 

Half Price Books

Status: Confirmed.
Freebie: In addition to a free $5 gift card, the first 100 customers to show up when the doors open at 7 a.m. will also get a free tote bag, which will be ideal for hauling off your Black Friday bounty. One of those totes may contain another freebie: a $100 gift card.

 

Old Navy

Status: Confirmed.
Freebie: Yes, Old Navy is a clothier, but it's also giving away a Wii U console this Black Friday. While it's likely that the retailer will give away only one console per store, a larger number of customers can spend at least $40 and take home a free copy of Super Mario Bros. U, which is a $60 value. Old Navy's doors open at midnight for Black Friday, and the first customers in line will receive a wristband for this free game offer.

Pep Boys

Status: Rumor.
Freebie: 'Tis the season for dropping temperatures, so remember not to skimp on auto maintenance, especially if you'll be enduring heavy holiday travel. As an exclusive for its in-store patrons, Pep Boys is offering Champion Platinum spark plugs for free via a $2 rebate. And because you never replace just one spark plug, you can purchase up to 15.

 

Ace Hardware

Status: Rumor.
Freebie: If you're anticipating a large present from Santa -- say, a new flat-screen TV -- you'll want to make sure you have plenty of space for it. To ensure the perfect fit, head to your local Ace Hardware and nab a Lufkin 25-foot self-centering tape rule for free via a $5 rebate. And in case you want to buy in bulk, keep in mind that there is a limit of 32 per store.

 

Sam's Club

Status: Confirmed.
Freebie: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially on Black Friday. You'll need stamina to make it through those crowds. As Sam's Club opens its doors at 7 a.m. on Black Friday, it'll be handing its members a free cup of Starbucks holiday blend coffee along with a free Artisan Fresh pastry. Really, who wants to shop in the morning on an empty stomach and without caffeine?

 

Seattle's Best Coffee

Status: Confirmed.
Freebie: No worries if you're not a Sam's Club member -- you can still enjoy your Black Friday caffeine boost. Participating Seattle's Best Coffee stores will be handing out free 12-ounce cups of coffee. Although this deal touts that it's especially for those who have to work post-Thanksgiving (like our writers and editors!), it appears to be valid for just about anyone in need of a coffee break. If you can't make it to a Seattle's Best location (and have a Facebook account) you can opt to have a free sample sent to your house instead. We reckon you'll have to brew it yourself, however.

Black Friday Hours List: Target, Best Buy, More

Here is a round-up of Black Friday hours, so you can plan out your shopping trip!

  • Sears opens at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving this year and will remain open all night until 10 p.m. on Friday. Last year it did the 4 a.m. on Black Friday thing but caved to customers for a pushed back start time, said a spokeswoman.
  • Gap will have around 1,100 Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic stores open on Thanksgiving day and an additional 1,500 more at midnight on Black Friday.
  • Best Buy is going to open its doors at midnight, same as last year, and will give reservation tickets to those waiting up to two hours ahead of time for certain items.
  • Macy‘s will also do the midnight opening for Black Friday, as it did in 2011.
  • Target looks like it will be opening at 9 pm on Thanksgiving night, from the ad preview.
  • Staples is a bit of a late starter, relatively speaking, with a 5 a.m. opening time. But hey, that’s an hour earlier than last year for the store, and there will be special offers for mobile shoppers the night before at 11 p.m.
  • Walmart will be open 8 pm on Thursday, Thanksgiving
  • Old Navy will be open 12 pm on Friday

Sears Black Friday Hours

Last year, Sears opened at 4am, opting out of the midnight doorbuster competition altogether by positioning itself as a second stop on the Black Friday shopping agenda. For Black Friday 2012, Sears is going in a completely different direction. In a stunning turn of events, Sears will open at 8pm on Thanksgiving Day and stay open for 26 hours straight through until 10pm on Black Friday. This is by far the earliest we’ve ever seen a retailer open its doors for Black Friday. Sears is planning two rounds of doorbusters – one for the early birds beginning at 8pm on Thanksgiving, and a second round beginning at 4am. We’re looking forward to seeing how this double doorbuster strategy plays out in the Sears Black Friday ad.

Kmart’s Thanksgiving and Black Friday hours are a jumbled, confusing mess. On Thanksgiving Day, Kmart will be open from 6am to 4pm. They’ll reopen four hours later at 8pm and stay open until 3am on Black Friday, shutting the doors once again. Then they’ll reopen two hours later at 5am for Black Friday, staying open this time until 11pm. Are you confused yet? Presumably, the first break would be to let Kmart employees have Thanksgiving dinner with their families, but why close at 3am only to reopen two hours later? And why lose two hours of shopping time to the competition in the middle of the busiest shopping day of the entire year?

The press release from Sears Holdings offers very few answers, saying only that the decision to open both stores on Thanksgiving was driven in part by feedback from customers “who sought more flexible Black Friday in-store shopping times and eagerness to shop doorbuster deals.”

“Kmart stores have been open on Thanksgiving for the last 21 years, serving as a destination for last-minute entertaining needs,” said Ron Boire, executive vice president, chief merchandising officer and president, Sears and Kmart Formats. “We understand that many of our associates want to spend time with their families on the holiday, so Sears and Kmart will staff its stores with seasonal associates and those who have volunteered to work on Thanksgiving Day.”
