My Favorite Apple Recipe

I wanted to share one of my favorite apple cake recipes, as featured on the Sears Blog:

 

Happy Holidays! Here’s a December treat from Sears Hometown Stores, Sears Home Appliance Showroom, and Sears Appliance & Hardware Stores. This month we asked a question: "What’s your favorite holiday recipe and what cooking appliance do you use to prepare it?"

One of the best parts of the holidays for me is warming up the kitchen with something yummy baking in the oven. When we bought our house years ago, we had to get new appliances and headed out to our hometown Sears store. We chose Sears because of their reputation for having high quality appliances at excellent prices. It was holiday time and the store was busy but our sales person, Carla, was wonderful. We picked out a side by side fridge and a new stove. Sears was also running a promotion at the time and we got a great deal! I was so excited when the appliances were delivered and hooked up.

great aunt maye's apple cake One of the first recipes I made was an apple cake. My mother-in-law, Janet, gave me this recipe. It has been handed down from a few generations. It is the best apple cake I have ever tasted – moist, delicious, and very easy to make! We love picking apples every year and this recipe is the perfect way to use up some apples!

I hope you enjoy the recipe, “Great-Aunt Maye's Apple Cake” as much as my family has!

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups of flour
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. of cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup of oil
  • 4 cups of diced apples
  • 1 cup of chopped walnuts
  • 2 eggs
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp. of vanilla

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients together. Lightly grease a 9x12 baking dish. Pour in pan and sprinkle the top with cinnamon and sugar.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 45 min.
