Pirc.com: Grocery Store Match-Ups, Coupons, More

I don't know if you have noticed, but grocery prices have gone through the roof! I was so discouraged the other day shopping, that I was really reluctant to buy anything that wasn't on sale or I didn't have a coupon.

I knew I had to find some kind of solution. Pirc.com was just what I was looking for! I am actually one of those people who are still old-school with getting out the paper coupons and paper fliers. I use digital coupons as well, but find myself matching up coupons and ads like my mom used to!

Pirc.com wants to give you back your time and help you create your very own personalized circular or "Pircular". Every week, sales and coupons on household items you actually buy are now delivered to your inbox.

Even if you really aren't into coupons, getting the sales in your inbox is a big help and will still save you a lot of money.

I really like the Pirc.com ‘S.C.O.R.E. at the Store’ shopping methodology:

S = Sales. If there is one thing you remember, try to buy items that are only on sale. Typically, many items go on sale every 6-8 weeks so try to buy enough to last until the next sales cycle. And remember, you can always get a raincheck for a sale item that is out of stock.

C = Coupons. If you can use a coupon on an item you are already buying on sale, that is where you really can see the difference in your budget; not just using a coupon because you have a coupon.

O = Open. Be open to trying new brands or new items that are on sale if you are in the market for it. You might find a new favorite.

Also, be open to things not always working out exactly as you planned. If you want to make this a lifelong behavior, like healthy eating, you need to allow for splurges and convenience over price every now and then.

R = Retailer brands. Try the store brands. They can be up to 50% cheaper and are often the same ingredients. Consumer Reports does studies all the time ranking many store brands ahead of national brands on taste, quality and/or price.

E = Expiration dates. Check expiration dates on everything, even toothpaste. Sometimes, a close expiration date is why an item is on sale.
